Week 2 Weigh In

It's been a tough week.  I won't lie.  I've been on an emotional rollercoaster ride and my attempts at healthy eating have been thwarted by stress and anxiety.  I did, however, manage to pull off a great weight loss (-8.2 lbs!).  I've lost 10.2 lbs in my first 2 weeks of "controlled" eating.  Truth is, I got lucky!

But there's proof that even subtle changes make a difference.  Even one meal eaten with my goal in mind helps.  Have I been perfect?  Nope.  Not even close!  (Damn Carl's Junior text messages which offer great "freebies" - such as 16 point burgers free with the purchase of 12 point fries!)  Oh...and when my daughter chimes "Pizza sounds good".  But, I made some small changes this past week.  I drank WAY more water than soda.  In fact, I drank less soda in the entire week than I typically drink in a single day.  So, that's improvement.  And when I ate the bizzillion point burger and fries...I logged it in my point tracker and continued on from there.  I mean, why not?  I ate it, right?

I was so excited to see the 8+ lb weight loss this week that (so far) today has been great.  I'm enthused about tracking my points today and concentrating on heavy water intake.  It's amazing how small success blossom into a "can-do" attitude so quickly.

There is one problem though.  I find that (nearly immediately) after I eat, I can barely keep my eyes open.  It's all I can do to stay awake.  Normally, I wait 'til I get home from work to eat because this always happens.  Today I brought a nice, healthy and light lunch, and still can hardly stay awake.  I hate this feeling.  I'm miserable.  Even my body get's "twitchy"...like that restless leg syndrom and the like.  I don't know how to prevent this from happening and still eat throughout the day (as recommended).  Any insight?  Any advice?

I don't have much more to share today except that I am now 10.4 lbs lighter than I was two weeks ago...and for that...I am proud of myself.

Enjoy the day..........

  1. Congratulations! Great weight loss--I don't care how you got it. :D

Re: sleepiness after eating. It's one thing if you don't eat all day then have a huge meal. Being sleepy after that is pretty normal. But if it's occuring EVERY time you eat, even if you're eating light, you might want to check your glucose levels.

If you don't have access to a glucose meter, your doctor can do it for you. Sometimes the health department or pharmacy clinic will do it, too.
