Today is my first day off work in over a month. I have an 88-hour work week ahead. I'm taking a "me" day. Slept 12 hours, talked to a friend on the phone, doing (a little) much-needed housework. I'll watch a movie I've had sitting here for two weeks to watch. And I'll take a walk tonight. Of course, it's already 2:00 in the afternoon, so some might say this day is wasted....but I needed this quiet, nothing-scheduled, don't-gotta-be-somewhere day.

! You certainly needed the rest!
ReplyDeleteIt may have been a good thing that your boss saw you crying. Anyone who is working everyday for a month without a vacatin deserves a cry!
And an 88 hour WEEK?!
Cheri, it's not like you're the company's owner and are responsible for carrying it on your shoulders. I understand your desire to help out, but you must talk to your boss about a more reasonable work schedule. You must.
You are more than an employee--you are a mother and a human being. 88 hour work weeks stopped being legal for a reason! People cannot hold up under that.
You must have at least one day off a week. At least. And 8 hour shifts sound like a plan, too.
